Welcome to LIMA - Low-Vision Intelligent Machine Assistant
LIMA is a Windows-based screen reader that provides complete computer control through voice commands. Designed specifically for blind and low-vision users, LIMA combines artificial intelligence with natural voice interaction to improve computer accessability.

Installation
System Requirements
Recommended:
- Windows 11 (64-bit)
- 8GB RAM
- 2.5GHz quad-core processor
- 1920x1080 display resolution (1280x1024 minimum)
- High-speed internet
- Quality microphone and headphones
- Single monitor setup (optimal performance)
- NVDA (for fully blind users)
Installation Steps
- Download the LIMA installer from your email
- Run the installer as administrator
- Select your preferred language
- Accept the license agreement
- Enter your license key
- Choose installation location
- Complete the setup wizard
Initial Setup
After installation:
- Double click to launch LIMA
- Lima will provide you with a screen description
- You can now ask LIMA questions or complete actions.
- Configure settings to your preference

Getting Started in 5 Steps
- Launch LIMA - Open the application
- Try Basic Commands - Say "Hello LIMA", "Describe the screen", "Open Notepad"

Voice Command Tips
- Speak clearly at a moderate pace
- Use natural, conversational language
- Be specific but not robotic ("Open the Documents folder" works better than "Open Documents")
- Press Ctrl + Alt + K to interrupt talking
- Use text input if voice isn't working (bottom of window)
Understanding the Interface
- Status Icon - Shows if LIMA is listening, thinking, or speaking
- Transcript Area - Displays your words and LIMA's responses
- Microphone Control - Mute/unmute button with sensitivity adjustment
- Settings - Access your system microphone settings
Available Tools & Commands
LIMA can call the following tools through voice commands. These are the core functions available to you:
Screen Observation
Observation tool
- Observe and describe what's currently on your screen
- Ask questions about the screen content
- Example: "What's on the screen?", "Describe the current window", "What buttons are visible?"
Mouse & Pointer Control
Mouse click
- Perform a mouse click (left, right, or double-click) at the current cursor position or at specific coordinates
- Example: "Left click", "Right click", "Double click", "Click on the text input box"
Move mouse to
- Move the mouse pointer to specific x,y coordinates
- Example: "Move mouse to the ok button"
Mouse wheel scroll
- Scroll the mouse wheel up or down
- Example: "Scroll up", "Scroll down"
Keyboard Input
Type text
- Type any text without pressing Enter
- Example: "Type hello world", "Type my email address"
Type text and enter
- Type text and automatically press Enter
- Useful for commands and form submissions
- Example: "Type my password and enter"
Press key
- Press a single keyboard key: Enter, Backspace, or Arrow keys (up, down, left, right)
- Example: "Press enter", "Press backspace", "Press arrow down", "Press arrow right"
System & Window Control
Windows key
- Open or close the Windows Start menu
- Example: "Press Windows key", "Open start menu"
Show desktop
- Show or hide the windows desktop (Windows+D)
- Example: "Show desktop", "Go to desktop"
Window control
- Maximize or minimize the currently focused window
- Example: "Maximize this window", "Minimize this window"
Application Control
Open program
- Launch installed applications
- Example: "Open Chrome", "Open Notepad", "Open File Explorer"
Open website
- Open a website in your default browser
- Example: "Open wikipedia.org", "Go to google.com"
Voice Control

- Adjust LIMA's text-to-speech output: volume, speed, and voice
- Example: "Talk faster", "Talk slower", "Speak louder", "Change voice"
- Available voices: Despina (Chill Young Female), Enceladus (Chill Middle-Aged Male), Rasalgethi (Chill Young Male), Laomedeia (Professional Woman)
Information & Search
Web search
- Search the web for information, news, weather, stock prices, etc.
- Example: "Search for weather in Sydney", "What's the stock price for Apple?", "Find latest news"
Memory (Advanced)
Create Memory
- Save information to memory for use in future sessions
- Useful for remembering file locations or important details
- Example: "Remember that my files are in C:\Users\Documents"
Keyboard Shortcuts
Quick keyboard shortcuts you can use. All shortcuts can be customized in Settings → Hotkeys:

Settings
LIMA provides a variety of configurable settings to customize your experience. Access Settings from the main window.
Voice Settings
- Voice Selection - Choose from available TTS voices: Despina (Chill Young Female), Enceladus (Chill Middle-Aged Male), Rasalgethi (Chill Young Male), Laomedeia (Professional Woman)
- Speaking Rate - Adjust how fast LIMA speaks (slow, medium, fast)
- TTS Mode - Choose between online (cloud-based) or offline TTS
Hotkey Configuration
- Stop Speech Hotkey - Customize the key combination to interrupt LIMA's speech (default: Ctrl+Alt+J)
- Observe Screen Hotkey - Customize the key combination to trigger screen observation (default: Ctrl+Alt+K)
- Quick Input Hotkey - Customize the key combination to open the text input popup (default: Ctrl+Alt+H)
Speech Detection
- End-Turn Confidence Threshold - Adjust how LIMA detects when you've finished speaking. Lower values make LIMA respond faster but may cut off speech; higher values wait longer for more natural conversation flow
- Microphone Sensitivity - Adjust microphone input sensitivity
AI Model Selection
- Base AI Model - Choose the AI model for LIMA's responses. Available models include GPT-5.2, Llama 4 Maverick, and Kimi K2.5
Narration Settings
- Website Narration Verbosity - Control how detailed website descriptions are (regular or detailed)
- Video Narration Verbosity - Control how detailed video descriptions are (regular or detailed)
Appearance
- Text Size - Adjust the transcript text size for better readability
- Theme - Choose between available visual themes
- Language - Select interface language (English or Vietnamese)
Support
Common Issues & Solutions
LIMA Won't Start
- Verify Windows 10/11 (64-bit) is installed
- Run the application as administrator
- Check that your license is activated
- Restart your computer
Voice Recognition Problems
- Check microphone is properly connected
- Test microphone in other applications
- Reduce background noise
- Adjust microphone sensitivity in Settings → Audio
Slow Performance
- Close unnecessary applications
- Check your internet connection
- Verify your system meets minimum requirements
- Restart LIMA
Audio or Speaker Issues
- Verify speakers/headphones are connected
- Check that volume is not muted
- Test audio in other applications
- Update audio drivers
Failed to Initialize/ DVS worker crashed
- Restart LIMA
